A breakdown of the sessions can be found here
Club Run Sessions
Thursday session is approximately a 50 min run. The session is interval training so no one is left on their own. We leave the Dolphin at 19:30 with a slow jog to the starting point, the session is then started and you work at your own pace, we then all jog back as a group. Club coaches take it in turn to deliver the session.
Club Swim Sessions
Thursdays swim is a 1 hour coached swim session in the pool at the
Dolphin Leisure Centre, Haywards Heath. A session based purely on
improving overall swim technique and efficiency. Coaching by our
team of club coaches. We have 3 lanes booked from 20:30 until 21:30
for club use.
This is the main club session and is followed by a couple of drinks
and a chat in the bar afterwards.
We have a second swim night at Ardingly College Swimming Pool on Tuesday evenings from October at 20:00 - 21:00 and go until 28th May 2013 (Christmas break 18th Dec - 8th Jan). We have the whole pool, split into four lanes. There is no extra charge beyond normal swimming subs if you wish to swim in the uncoached lane but there is a small charge (£3) for the coached lanes.
Open water swim
Every person must complete an indemnity form for the forthcoming season/year and read the risk assessments and club policies. The water board require new indemnity forms each year from each swimmer - those completed last year are redundant. Forms can be downloaded here.
Open water swimming (from late April to the end of September) we currently have the following venues:
Southwater country park (Cripplegate lane, Horsham) on a Monday night (from May) 18.00-19.30. This is a free session, with changing and showers available.
We share this venue with a few tri clubs so if you decide to come along you will see everyone getting changed on the floating jetty so come along and introduce yourself. Clubs have specific swim hats - ours are red and have our logo on (available from Steve Mac). If you don't have gate keys let me know and I will get some cut for about £5
Ardingly reservoir - We have two weekly sessions (from May)- Saturday mornings 08:30-10:00 and Tuesday evenings from 18:00-19:30. Cost is £3.00 (bring the correct change please). Safety boat cover, changing and showers are available.
To get to the swim jetty follow the path past the club house along the line of boats to the very end and you will see the floating jetty.
***Unfortunately part of our agreement with Southwater Country Park and Ardingly reservoir is that:
-
ONLY FULLY PAID UP MEMBERS of the club can swim
-
Indemnity form must have been completed
-
Wear a wetsuit and club swim cap
Extra info for Ardingly only:
-
Be prepared to take a turn in the kayak*
-
Pay £3.00 per session
-
Be out & clear of the water by 10am ie. not arriving at 09.55.
* To
keep everyone safe we are required to have someone in the kayak
accompanying swimmers & someone spotting from the pontoon.
Spotting is relatively straightforward in terms of swimmers taking
turns during the session but the kayak is less easy to
manage.
This season we will be operating a rota system and everyone that
swims will be expected to kayak at some point. If you kayak for the
entire session you swim free next time, sharing won't
count.
Weir Wood Reservoir - Forest Row RH18 5HT. Tuesday evenings at 19:00hrs and on Sundays at 18:00hrs. The venue is also open three afternoons a week in the summer for swimming and boat hire.
Cost is £6.00, changing and showers available. More details here
Sea Swimming
We may also meet for sea swimming but this is arranged on an individual basis - see forum or Facebook for details of any forthcoming swims.
You must have completed the Mid Sussex Triathlon Club Open water Swimming Session Indemnity/Waiver form before swimming at any of the outdoor venues.
Club Bike Sessions
Sundays @ 09:00 from the The Sergison Arms, Haywards Heath. Route suggested by members on a rota basis and distance varies from 25m upwards at a comfortable speed catering for all abilities. Updates are normaly on Facebook
Other rides are arranged on an ad hoc situation through emails and Facebook postings.
Turbo (Last turbo session 27th March 2013 - Replaced by the HH road ride/Death ride)
How do you get that PB or personal Goal for next year? Turbo hard through the winter. Turboing is better in a group as you are likely to go much harder. Our group Turbo training sessions take place every Wednesday from the 2rd Oct 2013.
The session is held at Warden Park School, Broad Street, Cuckfield, RH17 5DP and start at 19:30 finishing at 21:00 (don't worry you can finish early if you want).
Directions: When you get to the school stay right, go past all the cars on the left and the school sign on the right.
Follow it round to the right into another car park (opposite the buildings entrance). Follow this down past the halls and then go left (very dark here you will need a torch) into another small car park.
Continue along the length of the building and you will see a small path going up to the left follow that to the double blue doors in front of you (not the ones on the left). Best to bring a bike light/torch as there is little to no lighting in this area.
These sessions are free the club pays for the hire of the hall and it is run by volunteers (non MSTC members are encouraged to take part but will be charged £2). We have a mix of leaders for the sessions (Dougie, and Steve Mac) so the style tends to alternate.
The floor is a cushioned type so you will need to put a sheet of ply or a strong mat under your turbo to avoid any dents. You will NOT be allowed to take part if you do not have sturdy floor protection to stop the Turbo's denting the cushion floor.
Don't forget to bring with you water/energy drink, towel, Heart Rate monitor (optional), bike, torch and turbo. If you need any of these please let me know.
SPIN
21:00 at the Dolphin is delivered by one of our coaching team and
is designed to work alongside our swim session or just a great
piece of training in its own right. Bring a towel and water bottle
and be prepared to work hard.
Haywards Heath evening training sessions known as the "Death Ride"
We are starting the Haywards Heath evening training sessions known as the "Death Ride" on Tuesday 26th March 2013 starting from outside Laura Ashley in Haywards Heath @7:30.
The sessions will be 5 laps round Hawards Heath taking
in
1-Harlands Road/Paddock Hall Road
2-Paddock Hall Road
3-Bolro Road
4-Perry Mount Road
5-Oathall Avenue
All laps go via the Princess Royal roundabout and down through Northlands Wood and Lindfield.
The objective is to have a safe fast training ride where we all look after each other, however, everyone joins in at their own risk. All riders start together and naturally split in to similar ability groups. Safety is paramount on these rides and all riders are reminded to have working lights, reflective gear and follow the rules of the road and ride according to conditions.
Info:
Other training sessions are organised by groups within the club, so that individuals can choose to concentrate on different aspects of Triathlon and fit the training in with their work/social life.
