Go Tri!
Triathlon can be as much fun for young people as it is for adults and can have just as many health and social benefits. That's why we are launching the GoTri! Junior Training Camp.
GoTri! is open to young people between the ages of 10 and 16. We welcome juniors of all athletic abilities to the camp - from complete beginners who want to 'give tri a try' to those with more experience who are looking to be part of a training camp with structured training sessions and an introductory race for all.
Our aim is to provide young people across Mid Sussex with a fun and safe environment in which to enjoy and achieve some of the unique challenges that triathlon has to offer. The training camp provides an introduction to triathlon, giving individuals an opportunity to fulfill personal challenges in a fun and welcoming environment.
We will provide structured training sessions in swimming, cycling, running and in nutrition, team building, bike maintenance and other related activities. Lunch and snacks will be provided. We will encourage the young people to participate in our introductory race.
Don't forget that GoTri! is open to juniors of all abilities, but we do have a few basic requirements for all young people wishing to take part. We require our junior participants to be:
-
Between the ages of 10 and 16 (we are unable to cater for children who were under the age of 10 on September 1st 2010)
-
Capable of swimming 25 metres unaided in a recognized stroke on their front.
-
Able to cycle safely and competently and have access to a roadworthy bicycle and helmet (this includes a mountain bike, hybrid bike, BMX or road bike)
-
Respectful of other participants, coaches and members of the Mid Sussex Triathlon Club and adhere to the British Triathlon
-
Federation's Code of Conduct for Parents and Young People (copy supplied with entry pack).
GoTri! Training Camp 2012 is run in accordance with the British Triathlon Federation's guidance on the training and development of young triathletes, our training sessions are geared towards improving the skills, techniques and fitness levels of participants in all three triathlon disciplines: swim, bike, run.
All junior participants must be dropped off and collected from GoTri! training sessions by a parent or guardian. Parents and guardians are invited to come and support the race for all on the final session on the Sunday
